Contemporary art practices are not restricted by commitments to a medium, a concept, an aesthetic tradition, a type of product, or an “ism.” Artists work across disciplines, using and contributing to the methods of social and natural sciences, information technology, business, humanitarian work, and engineering. This inclusive and democratic environment is vastly enabling in the freedom and possibilities that it offers. It is also challenging in the critical thought and innovation that it demands. I feel fortunate to be an artist in an era when art is passionately searching for its place. I am one of the many instigators and perpetrators of this erratic journey.
